The following are some tips and procedures that the Police Department would like our residents to be aware of.
1. 9-1-1 Calls:
9-1-1 is for EMERGENCY USE ONLY!! Please use discretion when using 9-1-1 if it is not an emergency please use 768-2100. If you should dial 9-1-1 in error please stay on the line until the dispatcher answers the call. This saves us the trip to your home to confirm that everything is in order.
2. Overnight Parking: NO PARKING 2AM-5AM
Overnight parking is permitted in the borough if the homeowner calls the Police Department and receives permission. Please note that overnight parking is not permitted under any circumstances if snow is predicted. This is to ensure that our D.P.W. has access to all road surfaces should snow removal become necessary. Vehicles that are parked on the roadway overnight when snow removal is taking place will be removed!!
3. Public School Closings:
Please DO NOT call the Police Department to inquire whether the public school is closed. Please utilize the sources provided by the Harrington Park School to determine weather related closings.
4 . Door to Door Solicitation: Please be advised that anyone soliciting door to door within the limits of the borough must have a solicitors permit issued by this authority. The only exceptions to this are for non profit organizations and religious organizations. Please advise the Harrington Park Police Department of any solicitiors who do not have the proper permit displayed.
Swiftreach - Reverse "911"
6.The Borough of Harrington Park has contracted with Swiftreach for our
reverse 911 system. Swiftreach allows the Borough, the Harrington Park
School or the Harrington Park Police Department to contact residents
via the telephone in quick and efficent manner. Messages can be sent
to particular groups or residents of a certain area of town as well as
the entire Borough in a manner of a few minutes. If you are using a
phone number that is issued by your Cable TV provider, that number is
most likely not in our database. Please contact The
borough hall ( 201-768-1700) to have your number added to our contact
list.
